RER Spotlights: Ground Heating & Thawing Equipment

Sept. 1, 2012
RER Magazine spotlights ground heating and thawing equipment from Powerblanket, and Wacker Neuson.

Powerblanket

The Powerblanket Multi-Duty heating blanket is designed to be an environmentally friendly method for curing concrete, thawing frozen ground and protecting construction materials and machinery from freezing. Featuring patented GreenHeat technology, the blanket uniformly distributes an insulated barrier of heat while consuming low levels of energy. The blankets are offered in several sizes ranging from 2-by-2 feet to 11-by-23 feet and can be customized. Standard blankets are rated to -10F/-23C, with Arctic versions rated to perform in temperatures as low as -40F/-40C. Built with a winter-proof, water-resistant outer shell, the blankets are powered by 120V electricity.

Wacker Neuson

Wacker Neuson Climate Technology introduces the E1100 hydronic surface heater with a genset delivering 3kW net output for off-grid use. The heater’s air-cooled diesel engine features an oversized Mecc-Alte generator head, and the on-board load-management system is designed to prevent wet stacking during low-load operation. Designed to deliver ground thawing, concrete curing, frost prevention and air heating, the heater features an external oil drain port and simplified access to air, fuel and oil filters. Rated to operate in temperatures of -40F, the E1100 can thaw up to 2,200 square feet of frozen ground with 1,100 feet of hose and up to 3,300 square feet with accessories. The unit has a 72-gallon fuel tank capacity.
