Wagner Equipment Co. will close its Farmington, N.M., facility and move to an industrial park in Bloomfield, N.M., the Farmington Daily Times is reporting. Wagner, one of the country’s largest Caterpillar dealers, headquartered in Aurora, Colo., was one of the forerunners of Caterpillar’s development into the rent-to-rent market, and has several New Mexico branches.

Wagner Equipment said it will retain the staff from the Farmington location and hire additional employees to work in Bloomfield. Wagner is the first tenant to commit to the new industrial park and is likely to help attract other prospective businesses.

Wagner officials said improving markets for oil and gas equipment led to its decision to expand. They added that the size of the real estate make it a good match for the company’s growth needs.

Wagner has dealerships in Colorado, New Mexico and West Texas. A leading rental player, Wagner is No. 27 on the RER 100.
