Used Equipment Values Increase 1.6 Percent in February

For the month of February, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across the 14 major rental equipment categories tracked by Rouse increased 1.6 percent compared with January values.

For the month of February, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across the 14 major rental equipment categories tracked by Rouse increased 1.6 percent compared with January values. For the six months ended Feb. 29, 2012, average index values jumped 5.6 percent. Eleven of the 14 categories increased in February with telescopic booms recording the highest increase at 4.3 percent followed by loader backhoes at 3.7 percent.

For the six-month period, articulating boomlifts set the pace at 14.2 percent, followed by scissorlifts at 12.7 percent, high-reach forklifts at 11.9 percent and loader backhoes at 10.8 percent.

Rouse also reported that February auction sales of rental and construction equipment tracked by Rouse averaged 8.4 percent higher than January values.

Rouse Analytics Rental Metric Benchmark reported that rental rates remained flat in December for the six major rental companies tracked by Rouse, after 10 consecutive months of increases.

In its measurements of equipment fleet age, high-reach forklifts averaged 58.7 months for the companies tracked by Rouse, followed by 57.8 months for telescopic boomlifts, 57.4 months for scissorlifts, 56.8 months for dozers and 53.4 months for articulating boomlifts.
