Used Equipment Values Drop in July, Rouse Reports

For the month of August, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across 14 major rental equipment categories decreased 0.3 percent compared to July.

For the month of August, the Rouse Value Index of Orderly Liquidation Values for used equipment across 14 major rental equipment categories decreased 0.3 percent compared to July. However, for the six months ending Aug. 31, average index values increased 1.3 percent. June 2012 rental rates increased 1.2 percent compared to May for rental companies participating in Rouse’s Rental Metrics Benchmark Service.

The biggest increase in used equipment liquidation values in August was for air compressors, with a 2.8-percent increase. The largest decrease was in dozers at 4.6 percent. For the six-month period, the largest increase was for excavators at 6 percent, followed by industrial forklifts at 5.3 percent, generators at 5 percent, articulating booms at 4.2 percent, and air compressors at 3.6 percent.
