United Rentals Names Vice President and Chief Information Officer

United Rentals last week named Kenneth DeWitt vice president and chief information officer, effective immediately.

“We are extremely pleased to have Ken join us in this key role on our senior management team,” said Michael Kneeland, United Rentals CEO. “He has extensive experience in leading large, strategically important IT operations for retail businesses, and shares our focus on continuing to improve the customer experience.”

DeWitt has more than 15 years of executive experience leading information technology operations of significant scope. Prior to joining United Rentals, he served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Retail Venture Services, formerly Value City Department Stores, the parent company of Filene’s Basement and DSW Shoes. He also served in the same capacity for Brand Technology Services LLC. DeWitt’s prior experience includes senior information technology management positions with responsibility for planning and integration, corporate systems and credit systems for Sears, Roebuck and Co. and vice president of management information systems for Saks Fifth Avenue. He began his career with Lerner Stores Corp.

Greenwich, Conn.-based United Rentals is No. 1 on the RER 100.
