Toaster Causes Fire at HERC Branch

Fire sprinklers contained a fire started by electrical wiring in a toaster in an employee break room at the Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. branch in Rohnert Park, Calif., the Rohnert Park Public Safety Department reported last week. The fire caused about $10,000 in water and smoke damages. The fire was brought under control in 14 minutes and caused minor structural damaged.

The sprinklers were functioning and kept the fire at bay until firefighters arrived, officials said. The rental center resumed normal operations quickly.
