Sunbelt Rentals last week announced the promotion of Jeff Stachowiak to the newly created position of national director of safety.

In this role, Stachowiak will assume the lead role for the Sunbelt safety function and will develop strategic initiatives to reduce and eliminate safety hazards.

“This is a highly visible and critical role in our company,” said Catherine Whitney, vice president of safety and risk management. “Sunbelt has always been focused on safety and Jeff will further our safety culture.”

Stachowiak’s responsibilities include creation and enforcement of Sunbelt safety policy and procedures, and the training and management of 24 safety managers.

Sunbelt also appointed new regional vice presidents in the Northwest and south Florida.

Dave Naylor was appointed vice president of Sunbelt’s Northwest region, which includes the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Colorado. Naylor has more than 24 years of industry experience, spending the past five of those years with Sunbelt. Prior to that, he worked for Sunbelt’s U.K. sister company, A-Plant. Naylor moved to the U.S. with Sunbelt in 2002 to open a greenfield pump and power business. Since then, he has held back-to-back district manager positions in the Alleghany region and in Houston.

Duane Francis was appointed vice president of Sunbelt’s newly formed south Florida region. Francis will focus on significant growth in the south Florida market in the coming years. Francis began his career with Sunbelt in 1995 as an outside sales representative with the Scaffold Services Specialty Division. In 2000, he opened a new location and served as manager, and in 2002 was promoted to district manager.

“Sunbelt sees significant growth opportunity in these regions and in their new roles Naylor and Francis will be tasked with leveraging Sunbelt’s strong team to drive considerable market growth,” said Brendan Horgan chief operating officer for Sunbelt Rentals.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Sunbelt Rentals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashtead Group plc, is No. 4 on the RER 100. It has more than 450 branches, including 100 Sunbelt at Lowe’s locations, in 35 states and the District of Columbia.
