Skyjack is contributing to Special Olympics Ontario’s first annual Polar Plunge in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to help raise funds and awareness for SOO’s 2016 Provincial Spring Games.
“We had a donated pool for the event, platform and stairs to get in and out of the pool, but we needed a camera platform,” said Dominique O’Rourke who works in sponsorship and marketing of SOO. “I was thrilled that Skyjack could help us in that area and show their support.”
Skyjack supplied a rough terrain scissorlift to be used as a camera platform as part of its 30 For 30 Partners campaign to celebrate its 30th anniversary. On Feb. 6, attendees braved the cold and jumped into the icy waters at a pool set up on Johnson Green at the University of Guelph with the goal of raising more than $20,000 for SOO 2016 Provincial Spring Games. SOO is a charitable organization that provides sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities, working to enhance physical, social and psychological development through positive and successful experiences in sports. The 2016 games will be the largest in SOO history with close to 1,000 athletes and coaches and more than 600 local volunteers.
With a working height of 32 feet, Skyjack’s SJ6832RT rough terrain scissorlift was the perfect platform for the camera to capture all the action.
“Guelph is where Skyjack is headquartered and where many of our employees live, so it was important for us to give back,” said Malcolm Early, vice president of marketing at Skyjack.
