RER to Present Webinar on Rental Penetration

May 22, 2013

RER is presenting a webinar May 29 on the subject of rental penetration. Entitled “5 to 50 and Counting,” the webinar will show how rental penetration — essentially defined as the percentage of equipment on jobsites that is rented as opposed to acquired by the user — has grown from an estimated 5 percent 20 years ago to more than 50 percent now. The webinar will also take a look at how rental penetration is likely to grow in the coming years.

The webinar will feature three of the industry’s foremost experts on the topic of rental penetration. Dan Kaplan, former CEO of Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. and the rental industry’s leading consultant, has long been considered the rental industry’s leading expert on the topic of rental penetration and is the most often quoted expert on the topic.

Also presenting will be Chuck Yengst, principal of Yengst Associates. Yengst, a veteran of more than 35 years in the construction industry, has worked primarily in the construction, industrial, agricultural and mining equipment fields as well as the rental equipment industry. He has also had extensive experience in other complementary markets, including engines, drivetrain products and hydraulic systems. Yengst has performed numerous private research studies in machinery markets and has provided sales forecasts, developed marketing plans, analyzed market trends, helped in the development of dealer networks, assisted in acquisitions and joint ventures, and provided feasibility studies on new products. He developed and is responsible for an ongoing subscription market research service, covering machinery markets in North America, which is now in its 31st year.

Yengst, through his analysis of who is buying equipment from leading manufacturers, has shown great insight into the topic of rental penetration.

Also presenting will be John McClelland, vice president of government affairs for the American Rental Association. McClelland, together with a committee of industry experts, has helped develop an analytical method for measuring rental penetration, which he will discuss on the webinar.

There will be ample time for questions and answers from registered attendees.
