Holt Cat and the Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund recently contributed $54,800 to technical programs at nine schools across Texas, demonstrating their continued support for career development and training of specialized technicians.

Recipients included Cedar Valley College (Lancaster), Dubiski Career High School (Grand Prairie), Kilgore College, Laredo Community College, MacArthur High School (San Antonio), Skyline High School (Dallas), South Texas College Diesel Program (McAllen), St. Philip’s College (San Antonio) and Texas State Technical College (Waco).

“When a CAT dealer supports a school’s technical skills program by making a donation, the Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund matches it,” said Shaun Manning, technical training director, at Holt Cat’s ProTech! training facility. “The goal of the program is to help schools develop state-of-the-art curriculum and training to prepare students for future career opportunities.”

Schools receive training in areas such as heavy equipment, diesel engines, electric power generation, forestry, marine and agriculture. The recipient schools are evaluated and selected based on the strength of their programs and current infrastructure needs.

The Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund was established in 1989 in a partnership between the Caterpillar Foundation, Americas Distribution Services and participating dealers like Holt Cat to strengthen curriculum and faculty development in technical schools. The Caterpillar Dealer Excellence Fund is committed to matching all donations given through the program and provided a matching donation of $27,400 in conjunction with Holt Cat to the nine recipient schools.

San Antonio-based Holt Cat sells, rents and services Caterpillar machines, engines, generator sets and trucks in a 118-county Texas territory spanning from the Red River to the Rio Grande. It is No. 17 on the RER 100.
