Construction equipment and tool manufacturer Hilti is expanding its distribution and service network in Visalia, Calif., in preparation for future growth. Visalia mayor Steve Nelsen and vice mayor Warren Gubler attended the Grand Opening of a new service center location recently, along with Prof. Dr. Puis Baschera, chairman of the board of Hilti Corp., and other executives from Hilti.

While Hilti has had a presence in the Visalia community for almost 20 years, the growing customer base and changes within the logistics structure prompted the opening of a new service center to expand its operations.

The new service center location is triple the size of the previous space. Hilti-certified technicians will perform tool repairs, laser calibrations, battery checks and maintenance at the new facility.

Previously co-located, the distribution center and service center shared 45,000 square feet of service and inventory space. The distribution center has been renovated and expanded into the space being vacated by the service center as the company prepared for increased inventory levels. Additionally, Hilti is adding a second distribution center location of 20,000 square feet and expects it to be fully operational in the last quarter of this year.

“The expansion of our distribution and service centers in Visalia represents the next step in the development of our North America support structure,” said Hilti North America president and CEO Cary Evert. “Our goal is to position our Visalia facilities as a hub of service and distribution operations for our customers in the western United States.”

Hilti’s North American headquarters is in Tulsa, Okla. Its international headquarters is in Leichtenstein.
