Milwaukee-based Giuffre Brothers Cranes this week announced that it is the official recovery vehicle provider for the 2011 Indianapolis 500.
Giuffre Brothers Cranes, the official boom truck supplier for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, developed and fabricated a special crane and flat bed that will be used to lift, recover and clear disabled race cars from the track. The new safety recovery vehicle is a Giuffre/Fassi hydraulic crane mounted on a Ford F750 chassis with a 20-foot flat bed complete with special vehicle safety tie downs and emergency alert lighting.

The recovery vehicle is designed to provide safer recovery of racecars while avoiding spilling vehicle fluids on the race track, a safer environment for the safety crews and less damage to the disabled vehicle.
The Indianapolis 500 is celebrating its 100th running. The race will start at 12 p.m./ET on Sunday, May 29.
