EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada — The Cat Rental Store, a wholly owned subsidiary of Finning Canada, recently made a number of facility purchases, expansions and upgrades to meet increasing demand for rental equipment throughout western Canada.

In Prince George, B.C., the industrial services division was relocated to a stand-alone facility in early 2012. The move created more space.

The Cat Rental Store also established a new branch in the Fort McKay industrial business park north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, close to the rapidly expanding oil sands industry. The new three-acre site provides faster service for those customers.

In Edmonton, Alberta, the industrial services group recently moved from Nisku to a significantly larger 13,000-square-foot facility in northwest Edmonton. The group is responsible for providing support to regional branches in the shutdown/turnaround plant maintenance industry. The new facility is also the Alberta branch for the expanding trench-shoring division.

Finning's CRS will open a brand-new 10,000-square-foot facility in Dawson Creek, B.C., almost double the current size, sitting on four acres of land. The company expects to open the facility Aug. 1.

The Cat Rental Store in Kelowna, B.C., will relocate from downtown Kelowna to a newer, more efficient facility in north Kelowna, opening Sept. 1.

In Fort Nelson, B.C., work has begun to almost double the size of the branch with two larger shop bays, a customer training room and additional office, showroom and warehouse space. The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 1.

Plans are underway for a relocation and significant expansion in the size of the Lloydminster, Alberta, branch, which is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2013.

Finning Canada and its Cat Rental Store are also making major investment in fleet and people. “Just under a hundred new employees have been hired over the last two years to support our operations,” said Gordon McDougall, general manager of the Cat Rental Store.

Finning International is based in Vancouver, B.C., and its Cat Rental Store division is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. Finning is No. 9 on the RER 100.
