Finning, western Canada’s Caterpillar dealer, donated a Caterpillar 420 backhoe loader, along with a fee-free lease arrangement to Kayano College in Fort McMurray for its “Equipped for the Future” program.

“This donation shows the long-term relationship we’ve had with Kayano College, and we hope more industry participates in the Equipped for the Future initiative,” said Larry Gouthro of Finning. “There is no better way to prepare for the next expansion in our region than by providing the tools for the college to train the next generation of operators.”

Finning also donated a used 2007 Caterpillar 246 skid-steer loader worth about $30,000 to the British Columbia Museum of Mining, when the museum’s 25-year-old skid-steer loader broke down permanently in the midst of various renovation and construction projects to preserve the museum’s historic buildings.

“This machine has a door and it has heat, two things they were lacking with their previous [non-Caterpillar] machine,” said Norm Trottier, Edmonton, Alberta-based used equipment manager. “With the rain and snow in that area, they were two things the museum badly needed.”

Vancouver, B.C.-based Finning is No. 11 on the RER 100.
