Compresores & Equipos Files for Bankruptcy Protection

San Juan, P.R.-based Compresores & Equipos, one of Puerto Rico’s largest equipment rental companies, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, RER has learned. No further details about pending bankruptcy arrangements were available at press time. According to sources close to the situation, Puerto Rico’s construction market has been hit particularly hard by the current recession.

The company has been an annual listee on the RER 100 for the past decade. It was ranked No. 81 on last year’s list, with 2007 rental volume of $19.4 million. According to sources, Compresores’ rental volume in 2008 was significantly less.
