Jeffrey Johnson, co-owner of All Access Rentals, was killed in a plane crash last week. Johnson, 50, died during a flying lesson when the single-engine plane developed engine problems crashed in a residential area in Santee, Calif.

Johnson founded All Access with his best friend Kevin Aylesworth in 1999, and the two men grew the Spring Valley, Calif.-based company to be one of the leading Southern California independent rental companies.

Johnson, born in Harbor City, Calif., was described on the company’s website as “generous and big-hearted, full of fun and enthusiasm, the lift of the party, always ready to make others laugh.” He raced boats, cars and motorcycles, hosted parties on his yacht, participated in marathons and traveled the world. Mike Crouch, president of Acme Lift, described Johnson as a dedicated family man.

Johnson is survived by his wife Jaime and children Sophia, Juliana, Jeffrey Jr., Cruz and Ella, as well as his parents and many extended family members.
