Aggreko announced the award of a two-year project to provide 100 MW of gas-powered generation in the Dominican Republic, subject to final approvals. The agreement is valued at about $80 million over a two-year period, and will serve as an interim emergency solution to Edenorte, the northern electrical distribution company of CDEEE in the Dominican Republic. A rapid rise in demand for electricity driven by economic growth has created an urgent need for utility power.

The power will improve the stability of the national grid, Aggreko chief executive Rupert Soames said.

Aggreko is the world leader in the supply of temporary power and temperature control solutions. Based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 6 on the RER 100.
