The nationally televised events include the Sept. 26 debate at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude Ford Center; Oct. 7 at Belmont University’s Curb Event Center in Nashville, Tenn.; and Oct. 15 at Hofstra University’s basketball arena in Long Island, N.Y.

In addition to providing power for the debates between Barack Obama and John McCain, Aggreko’s team of 14 technicians will be responsible for supplying supplemental on-stage air-conditioning for the candidates and power for the print press centers as well as additional support areas. Aggreko also powered the on-campus “Rock the Debate” rally and concert for students beginning at noon on the day of the University of Mississippi debate.

“We at Aggreko are proud to be involved in these events which are so vital to our democracy,” said George Long, Aggreko’s senior event manager. “Every four years there are only three presidential debates and many Americans make their decisions based on what they see at these debates. It’s up to Aggreko to make sure our service is perfect.”

Aggreko will provide the debates with 16 MW of power, enough to power more than 1,000 homes, and enough cable to stretch from Hofstra University in Long Island to New York City’s Central Park.

The set-up for each debate is expected to take between two or three weeks, and four days to remove the equipment.

Headquartered in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 13 on the RER 100.
