Aggreko Powers NCAA Final Four Events

April 5, 2013

Aggreko, global leader in rental power and temperature control solutions, is providing large-scale power generation for local festivities surrounding the NCAA Men’s Final Four basketball tournament. The Final Four games will take place April 6 and 8 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, and thousands will participate in events in the area.

This is the seventh consecutive year Aggreko has provided power for the events. Aggreko is known for its track record with the NCAA as well as other events such as the 2013 presidential inauguration, the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Aggreko will provide enough electricity to surrounding events to power more than 80 average-size homes. The events include The Big Dance, a three-day pep rally and music festival featuring high-profile artists held at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. Aggreko designed power setup and cable distribution to be safely contained and away from public areas. Aggreko technicians will install the equipment and about 8,000 feet of cable as well as provide 24/7 monitoring services for power distribution operations at the event.

“It is an honor to work with the NCAA for the seventh year to provide large-scale rental power solutions for the Final Four festivities,” said Gary Meador, head of National Event Services, Aggreko North America. “Each project is unique and Aggreko’s event specialists have put together a great game plan utilizing their expert project design skills, our nationwide network of power generation resources and onsite technical support to create a successful event.”

The entire project entails about two weeks of work, from preparation and installation to dismantling the equipment after the event’s completion.

Aggreko is based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston. The company is No. 6 on the RER 100.
