Aggreko, a global leader in temporary power generation and temperature control solutions, provided a complete power and cooling solution for the three-day TomorrowWorld music festival, hosted for the first time in the United States Sept. 27–29, in Atlanta. Like its world-renowned Belgium sister “Tomorrowland,” the festival focused on providing the ultimate guest experience, with amenities ranging from on-site camping to pop-up swimming pools to concierge services.

“TomorrowWorld is truly one of the largest and most unique music festivals for which Aggreko has designed a temporary utility system,” said Jackson Beck, event services project manager, Aggreko North America. “With guest experience a top priority, attendee health and safety was of the utmost importance to the festival’s event planners, and our team worked alongside the customer’s compliance team to ensure all safety requirements were fully integrated and met.”

A 12-man Aggreko technical team installed, powered and maintained all eight festival stages, most of which required both North American and European voltage. The team also provided power and cooling throughout the 8,000-acre event site, including restaurants, merchandising tents, office trailers, water pumps, the media center, and an elaborate stable converted to dressing rooms and offices.

“The difference Aggreko offers to large festivals and even small-scale events is our deep experience in planning and helping clients size projects to their specific needs.  We then deliver and operate the most reliable, low-noise equipment to power — and in this instance, cool — the event,” said Beck.

A 12-man Aggreko technical team installed, powered and maintained all eight festival stages, most of which required both North American and European voltage. The installation required approximately 25 miles of cable and more than 100 generators ranging from 30 kW to 15000 kW.

The installation required approximately 25 miles of cable and more than 100 generators ranging from 30 kW to 1500 kW. Quiet, event-purposed rental generators, combined with environmental protection features, were installed for clean, low-noise operation so as not to disturb attendees sleeping on the festival grounds, as well as minimize environmental impact on event surroundings.

“This was the first time hosting our event in the United States, and we had specific requirements to ensure its success,” said Christopher Sorlie, technical producer, Backbone North America. “Aggreko has a proven track record in working with multiple vendors and scaling power for unique needs. We are proud to play host to this amazing event, and are pleased to have had Aggreko on our team to help us accomplish this feat.”

Aggreko has a long history of providing power to high-profile events, including the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Aggreko is based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston. The company is No. 5 on the RER 100.
