Hitachi

Hitachi's zero-tail swing ZX35U-3 mini-excavator features rubber crawlers with a steel-core structure to protect shoe edges and a long arm/counterweight option to extend digging depth and reach. Lubricant-impregnated HN bushings increase service intervals. Available in cab and canopy versions, low-effort pilot levers are spaced far enough apart for large operators and feature wrist rests for added comfort. The cab version comes standard with air conditioning and heat, and a cloth suspension seat. Boom-mounted auxiliary hydraulic lines and an auxiliary return-flow selector valve accommodate both one- and two-way hydraulically driven attachments.

Gehl

Gehl's compact excavator range features five new models: the Z17, Z27, Z35 (pictured), Z45 and Z80, each with a Yanmar IT4 engine. The models feature zero tail swing, designed to eliminate cab overhang beyond the tracks in all directions, enabling it to operate directly against a wall or other obstruction without damaging the machine or the structure. The hydraulic system incorporates two variable pumps and two gear pumps. An integrated boom light on all models mounted under the boom illuminates the area being excavated. Booms are constructed with a single boom-pin design and thick side plates with internally routed hydraulic lines. Heavy-duty cylinder guards protect exposed cylinders from damage.

Komatsu

The Komatsu PC88MR-8 is a mid-sized 8-ton hydraulic excavator designed to bridge the gap between compact and construction-sized units, equipped with KOMTRAX telematics technology. The unit's X-frame undercarriage helps prevent mud and debris build-up. A pilot-proportional joystick provides auxiliary hydraulics control and a 7-inch color monitor facilitates viewing of machine functions and monitoring system. The unit is equipped with a control pattern change valve enabling the operator to choose between backhoe- or excavator-style controls. A Komatsu IT4, 65-hp diesel engine powers the machine, which features increased drawbar pull, faster travel speed, more arm digging force and improved dozer blade travel to enhance grading and backfill options.

Volvo CE

The EC20C compact excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment is powered by a Tier 4-compliant 16.2-hp diesel engine and features an electro-proportional fingertip control on the joystick for swing and offset movement at the same time. The attachment circuit and offset function foot controls have been replaced by the joystick button, providing operators with more leg and foot room. Maximum hydraulic oil flow for the first auxiliary circuit can be set to adjust the maximum speed of a tilting ditching bucket. A shorter tail-swing footprint, along with a rounded design and cast-iron rear counterweight offers maximum rear protection.
