Tier 3 Engine Offers Higher Tier Of Benefits
The Perkins 800 Series of naturally aspirated and turbocharged, 4-cylinder engines offers a capacity of 3.3 liters. The engines meet all the requirements of EC Stage IIIA and EPA Tier 3 off-highway emissions legislation. An increase in top tank temperature (110 to 112 degrees Celsius) minimizes impact on heat rejection and provides customers with ease of installation.
“The 500-hour service interval and low-oil consumption benefits feed through to lower cost of ownership to rental fleets and their customers,” says Mike Reinhart, marketing manager for Perkins Engines. “The 800D shows improvements over the Tier 2 engine it replaces through 4-percent and 5-percent increases in power and torque respectively; and nearly 3dBa reduction in noise at full load.”
The engine series incorporates a number of features to ensure productivity and durability on the job, including strengthened cast-iron cylinder block to give rigidity and long life, a mechanical rotary fuel injection pump and advanced designed cross-flow cylinder heads to give an improved level of combustion efficiency.
