Trenchers Showcase High-Flotation Tires or Oscillating Tracks
The RT10 and RT12 walk-behind trenchers from Ditch Witch feature fully hydrostatic steering for easy handling and come with the choice of high-flotation tires or heavy-duty tracks that oscillate. According to the company, unlike rigid tracks, these “walking” tracks adjust more easily to uneven and rough terrain. Both units also feature a trail wheel that increases stability and reduces breakover when loading and unloading or going over a curb.
Both the RT10 and RT12 have increased speed for trenchers their size — up to 3.7 mph when equipped with tires — which helps a contractor be more productive when moving around the jobsite. The trenchers also come equipped with easy-to-use, color-coded controls and an 11-hp engine for the RT10, while the RT12 features a 16-hp engine.
“The trenchers' single design satisfies a large market both in the rental and the contractor sectors,” says Greg Adkins, trencher product manager for Ditch Witch. “It really helps the contractors' ability to get the complete job done either with a backfill blade for restoration, high-flotation tires or the ability to attach a boring unit, Ditch Witch Roto Witch, and bore under sidewalks. The operations also have a choice of high-flotation tires or heavy-duty oscillating tracks, both of which provide the stability and traction to drive across trenches, curbs and rough terrain.”
