Dozers Deliver Increased Pushing Power

The D31EX-22 and D31PX-22 (pictured) crawler dozers from Komatsu America Corp. come equipped with the company's Komtrax technology as well as its hydrostatic transmission designed for work in general construction, site preparation, home building forestry and utility applications. The D31-22 machines feature a super-slant nose coupled with a new cab forward design that moves the operator closer to the blade while improving machine balance, ride and stability.

Outfitted with a fuel-efficient 3.26-liter, Tier-3-emissions-certified engine, these models push with a net hp of 78 hp at 2,200 rpm and range in operating weight from 17,020 to 18,827 pounds. With 86 inches of track on the ground both standard (EX) and low ground pressure (PX) models offer customers weight distribution and flotation options to match various applications.

“The newly refined hydrostatic transmission is well tuned for maximum efficiency and reduces fuel consumption,” says Bruce Boebel, product marketing manager of crawler dozers for Komatsu. “It's well matched with the engine and provides powerful pushing power even while turning under load. Also, because the coolers are now in the rear of the machine, they are installed in an efficient side-by-side configuration with an electronically controlled and hydraulically-driven fan that only runs at the speed it needs to, thus saving fuel.”
