John Deere introduces the 160G LC and 210G LC hydraulic excavator models, building on its G-Series. These new mid-sized machines were designed with contractor customers in mind for excavating basements, loading trucks or placing pipe.
Focusing on operator comfort, John Deere redesigned the G-Series cab to be more spacious with a larger entryway and extra legroom. Silicone-filled mounts are engineered to effectively isolate operators from noise and vibration. The company also enhanced the multi-language LCD control monitor in the cab to simplify navigation.
“Extended service intervals allow the machines to run for 5,000 hours before a hydraulic oil change and 500 hours before an engine oil change,” says Mark Wall, product marketing manager for excavators, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The rugged IT4 design provides rental customers solid reliability and the ability to regenerate without operator interface, thus no loss in productivity. The G-Series models also have the ability to install auxiliary hydraulics to drive attachment, providing another source of revenue for rental companies.”
Three productivity modes allow an operator to choose the digging style that fits the task at hand. Plus, the models are equipped with a Powerwise III hydraulic management system that yields pinpoint metering and smooth, low-effort control to balance engine performance and hydraulic flow for predictable operation.
“What sets the G-Series apart are the three bulkheads in the boom to resist torsional stress and increase durability; cool-on-demand cooling with reversing option, including perforated pre-screening side screen doors; and a D-channel main frame for added rigidity and durability,” says Wall.
