Vertical Hood Design Values Easy Service and Maintenance
Bomag has redesigned its 47-inch single-drum vibratory rollers and given them more standard features popular in the rental industry and among cost-conscious contractors. The series consists of two models — the BW124DH-40 smooth drum roller and the BW124PDH-40 padfoot roller. The compact design and an optional leveling feature add versatility.
“The BW124-40 series rollers are easy to transport due to their compact size, and offer excellent gradeability and compaction performance,” says Dave Dennison, product manager of soil products for Bomag Americas. “The blade option increases machine utilization. Because they have no grease points, daily maintenance requirements are minimized.”
In addition, the vertically opening hood provides easy access to the engine and all components, and locks to prevent damage and vandalism. Hydraulic hoses are also protected. Recessed drum frame bolts permit operation near obstacles, and the dual-drum scrapers keep the drums clear of dirt and debris. The vibratory drum mechanism and spring-applied hydraulically released brakes are virtually maintenance free as well, the company says.
