Volvo Construction Equipment

The 2.6-ton Volvo SD25F soil compactor is designed to get in and out of 4-foot trenches. With the patented clamp-on padfoot shell kit, its versatility makes it suited for compacting various materials. The size of the SD25F makes it suitable for commercial and residential site development, roads, streets, driveways, small parking lots and landscaping jobs. This soil compactor has an operating weight of 5,920 pounds with a drum diameter of 31 inches and a drum width of 42 inches. It has 45 pad feet, each 2.5 inches in height, and a drum weight of 3,120 pounds.

Case Construction Equipment

The Case DV Series rollers feature tandem-drum compaction for application in asphalt or granular materials. The DV201, DV202 (pictured) and DV204 models feature high centrifugal forces, dual frequency and a hydrostatic drive that provides improved traction and smooth performance. The tandem-drum line ranges from operating weights of 5,510 to 7,720 pounds with drum widths from 39.4 to 51.2 inches and engines from 27 to 38 hp. Drum frequencies range from 3,180 to 3,720 vpm with centrifugal forces from 4,580 to 8,877 pounds. The operator has the option of using manual- or automatic-vibration shutoff in the neutral travel position to prevent making ripples in a compacted surface.

Doosan Infracore Portable Power

Doosan introduces the Ingersoll Rand BXR-60H and the BXR-200H (pictured) reversible vibratory plate compactors. The reversing feature of these compactors allows the operator to easily change direction with a single lever, and permits the operator to enter and exit a confined work area along a single path. At 158 pounds, the BXR-60H offers 3,417 pounds of centrifugal force. The larger addition to the line is the BXR-200H weighing in at 518 pounds. Powered by a Honda gasoline engine, this compactor delivers 7,053 pounds of centrifugal force. It has the ability to compact at a depth up to 18 inches and can cover 5,231 square feet per hour with its 18- by 29-inch durable plate.

Caterpillar

Caterpillar vibratory compactors for skid-steer loaders and compact track loaders are used for compacting soil, sand or gravel prior to pouring concrete, laying asphalt or hardscaping. The CV 16B has a 66-inch drum width, and the CV 18B has a 73-inch drum width. The vibratory pod design delivers balance between frequency and amplitude to provide a matte finish. Pod-style weight housings are factory-sealed for longer bearing life and easy serviceability. Replaceable rubber mounts isolate vibration and enhance vibratory capabilities. Durable high-strength steel drums are roll-formed and finish-welded for a smoother surface.

Multiquip

The Rammax Viper trench roller from Multiquip features a maintenance-free articulation design and an oscillation-joint feature that provides reliable stability on uneven surfaces and distributes advanced compaction in difficult areas. The patented Z-frame design with overlapping drums on the trench roller leaves no space for the un-compacted. Powered by a Lombardi engine, the unit delivers 2,460 vpm and reaches centrifugal forces up to 15,543 pounds. To keep operation temperatures low, the unit is equipped with a large engine cooler. Radiation protection is also enhanced by the steel frame of the roller.

Arrow-Master

The Arrow-Master P-Series plate compactors offer a system that incorporates a full-width weight shaft and heavy-duty tapered roller bearings directly into the base, making them hard-hitting compactors. Each unit also has a reversible guide handle and double-formed leading edge for improved climbing. The protective roll bar gives improved engine and component protection with a balanced attachment point at the center for lifting. The units feature travel rates up to 135 feet per minute and centrifugal forces ranging from 2,500 to 5,300 pounds.

Wacker Neuson

Wacker Neuson introduces a new look to its BS-2i rammer series, which includes a change from the familiar green bellows and silencer cover to gray bellows and a yellow silencer cover. Besides the new look, the updated rammers also have a new, low-profile muffler that wraps around the curved shape of the engine, bringing it an additional 1-inch further away from the outside edge of the rammer. The 145-pound BS 60-2i offers reduced hand-arm vibration; integrated fuel valve and throttle lever for simple operation; and easy starting and optimized weight balance, which lowers the center of gravity for easy operation.

Sakai

Sakai introduces the SW652ND, a 58-inch-wide double-drum oscillating roller that doubles as a double-drum vibratory roller. The SW652ND oscillates or vibrates on both drums simultaneously. Each drum is independently controlled for optimum flexibility. This technology is designed to achieve the required compaction faster on both thin and thick lift asphalt applications. The drums are cross-mounted such that the drive motors are on opposite sides of the machine, enabling the roller to roll straight, even at slow speeds. The unit is powered by a fuel-efficient, 78-hp Hino diesel engine that drives the machine's traction, steering and compaction systems independent of each other. ROPS and seatbelts are standard safety features, as is Sakai's exclusive three-way braking system.

Bomag

Bomag introduces the BW211-40 Series single-drum vibratory rollers. Featuring high output and maneuverability, the series consists of two models; the BW211D-40 (pictured) smooth roller and the BW211PD-40 padfoot roller. The BW211D-40 features a 22,930-pound operating weight, while the BW211PD-40 boasts a 25,785-pound operating weight. Dual vibrating frequencies and amplitudes customize the machines for different jobsite requirements. Both models deliver frequencies of 1,800 and 2,160 vpm across an 84-inch operating width. The smooth-drum roller generates 53,100 pounds of centrifugal force in high amplitude and 38,250 pounds in low amplitude, while the padfoot version provides 61,875 pounds of centrifugal force in high amplitude and 44,550 pounds in low amplitude.
