Specialized Online Videos Connect Customers with Branches

Livermore, Calif.-based Cresco Equipment Rentals recently added specialized videos to its website, www.crescorent.com, to connect to customers in the communities where they have branch locations by showing customers who the people of Cresco are and what sets the company apart. Cresco enlisted TurnHere, a full-service Internet video solutions provider that provides video production and distribution services; produces high-quality, low-cost Internet videos; and develops and executes plans to distribute those videos across the Internet, to create its videos.

“We were really looking to tie the stores to the towns so that people could connect to the Cresco Rentals name and to see the role we play in the community,” Chris Smith, president and managing partner of Cresco Equipment Rentals told RER. “The videos create a community feel and provide some texture by telling our story directly to the customer.”

Founded in 1984 by Chet Cushing in Martinez, Calif., Cresco Equipment Rentals was acquired in 1997 by NorCal Rental Group, LLC. Maintaining the Cresco name, the company then opened facilities across the Bay Area including its corporate office in Livermore, Calif. Cresco has 19 locations throughout northern California and a wide inventory that fits both contractor and homeowner needs.

Used Inventory Website for Ditch Witch Dealers

Ditch Witch, along with Equipment Web Services, a division of Dominion Enterprises, launched DitchWitchUsed.com, a site where Ditch Witch dealers can upload their used inventory into the EWS database and have the listings automatically display. A one-stop shop for quality used Ditch Witch equipment, Internet customers can easily search for used equipment by manufacturer, model, category, year of manufacture, price and location. Equipment located on the site includes aerators, grapples, chippers, shredders, trenchers and utility equipment, as well as many other equipment categories from a range of manufacturers including Allmand Bros., Bobcat, Komatsu, Rayco and Terex, as well as Ditch Witch. This new venture between EWS and the Ditch Witch organization is an interactive online solution for customers to find quality used Ditch Witch equipment, as well as equipment from other manufacturers, at the click of a button.

“Since all equipment is offered only through Ditch Witch dealers, customers can be sure their used equipment purchase is backed by local service and support,” said Shan Kirtley, director of sales and marketing for Ditch Witch.

Web-based Training Incorporates Elements of Traditional Training

Case Construction Equipment introduces a web-based training program for more than 350 Case dealer locations across North America. The online program incorporates elements from face-to-face training, seminars, self-directed learning programs on compact disc, online courses, webcasts and other interactive programs. This online option is designed to provide Case dealers with the tools and resources required to deliver customer support in the construction equipment industry. By the end of 2008, the online training program will feature nearly 20 web-based product training modules, Case officials said. In addition, more than 50 parts and service market training courses will be offered. The online training initiative is not designed to replace instructor-led training at the local, regional and national level. According to the company, the Case training department will continue to provide face-to-face training and product pocket guides, bulletins, product information bulletins, application manuals and other print and electronic reference materials.
