Gemini Saw Introduces Revolution Tile Cutting Blade

Torrance, Calif.-based Gemini Saw Co. recently introduced its Revolution XT saw blade at The Rental Show in Atlanta where demonstrators showed attendees the variety of both straight and intricate curved cuts it could produce, and even grabbed the blade with bare hands without being cut. Unlike traditional 10-inch tile saw blades, the Revolution XT blades have no center and are driven from the outside, which delivers several advantages according to the company.

The blade, which has the ability to make both straight or curve cuts, also allows the user to easily cut a slice off the edge of the material with the blade remaining stable and rigid without wandering. Both the front and back of the blade can be diamond coated so that cuts can be made forward and backward, and the same blade can be used for all materials without the need to ever change blades.

The Revolution XT offers an endless length- and width-of-cut capability. It can cut tile and stone up to 6 cm thick with no water pump necessary. The blade can cut the inside and outside of radius curves for intricate decorative tile applications. Gemini Saw's single-sided sintered diamond blade is capable of forward cutting on a ¾-inch radius. Its double-sided sintered diamond blade is capable of forward and back cutting a tighter 3/8-inch radius.

“The Revolution blades are very similar to the solid 10-inch diameter blades you will find on most high-quality wet saws,” the company said. “The difference is that our blades have no center, giving you the ability to not only cut straight lines, but also make tight radius cuts. Because we run our blades at a much slower rpm than any tile saw, but with far more torque, they give the user a much higher quality cut with far less chipping and superior blade life.”

Available as a companion accessory to the Revolution XT tile saw is the XT Slide Tray, which works much like a milling machine, allowing users to achieve exact square cuts regardless of the material or speed of the cutting action by simply loosening and tightening two screws. The Slide Tray comes with a double-sided 1/16-inch incremental rule on both sides of the blade. Exact measurements are set taking into account the blade kerf so that there is no calculating necessary to make any size cut.
