Line of Towable Booms Grows
In early 2006, Bil-Jax adds three more models of articulated booms — the 3522A, 4527A and the 5533A — to the Summit Series. These units offer 37 feet, 2 inches; 45 feet; and 55 feet, 3 inches of maximum platform height, respectively. The Summit Series trailer-mounted towable booms are designed for versatility and can be used in applications such as building construction and repair; tree trimming; painting and more.
All units feature an automatic, self-leveling hydraulic outrigger system designed for setup in 30 seconds when all four outriggers are deployed simultaneously. The extra-large, non-marking outrigger footpads allow these units to be used for indoor and outdoor applications. The controls on the ground and on the platform have the same easy-to-understand layout and push-button design, making them a good choice for one-time customers or contractors who have multiple employees.
“The electric control is basically the same on every model, so if you know how to operate one model you can operate any model,” says Chuck Hutchinson, vice president sales and marketing for Bil-Jax.
The towable booms can be transported by any standard half-ton pickup truck and each unit has a 65-mph tow-speed rating. All models have a 500-pound platform load capacity and two-person platform. Other features include hydraulic surge and parking brakes; forklift pockets; outrigger interlocks; and a 110-volt GFI duplex outlet at the platform.
Summing up the key features of the series, Hutchinson says they've got “more height, more outreach, smaller outrigger footprint, more intuitive controls, and they all have upper boom beam, extension and jib.”
Verified by Chuck Hutchinson, vice president sales and marketing for Bil-Jax.
