Axle Option Gives Scissors Smooth Ride
For increased traction and a smoother ride, Genie's GS-4390 and GS-5390 rough terrain scissorlifts are now available with an oscillating axle as an option. The oscillating axle system, initially designed for Genie's boom line, was re-engineered for the rough terrain scissorlifts. The system features a dual mode oscillation system and a rear split sensing axle. Dual mode oscillation allows the axles to navigate rough terrain while maintaining 4-wheel contact with the ground, and combines maximum traction and power for driving when the platform is lowered. Components on the sensing axle are protected from damage and the hydraulic oscillate manifold is easily accessible for service.
With a lift capacity of 1,500 pounds, the GS-4390 and GS-5390 have working heights of 49 feet and 59 feet, respectively. The two scissorlifts come standard with positive traction-controlled 4-wheel drive. If one tire loses traction at any speed, the others will not lose power. The operator can easily maintain speed control with three throttle modes. Both models have large platforms with durable diamond-plate aluminum flooring. The standard 5-foot front extension deck and optional 4-foot rear deck extension make reaching over obstacles easy. The rear platform railing can be removed for easier loading and unloading materials.
John Norton, product manager, says the oscillating axle system gives users increased traction, user confidence and a smoother ride. “To do the job, you must first get to the work,” Norton says. “Improved traction and terrain sensing technology contribute to greater utilization and productivity.”
