Two new telescopic tool carriers, the VersaHandler TTC V723 and V723 FL, have a rated load capacity of 7,000 pounds and a maximum lift height of 23 feet. The multi-purpose machines use a light, rigid frame for better stability and reduced flex, which allow them to lift as much as heavier machines in their class. Both models feature heavy-duty hydrostatic ground drive for shifting-on-the-fly between high and low drive speed ranges. The VersaHandlers have dynamic braking, allowing for controlled movement while inching up or down slopes on the jobsite, and automotive-style transmission. The tool carriers also feature three steering modes: all-wheel steer, front-wheel steer and crab steer.

Skyjack
The Skyjack midsize rough terrain aerial work platforms have working heights of up to 56 feet and capacities up to 1,500 pounds. The midsize RT's, with a choice of engines from a liquid-cooled dual fuel to efficient diesel, power up for any jobsite environment. All models come equipped with a proportional joystick control designed to prevent inadvertent operation, an important benefit to a multi-user work force. Tom Beraldo, vice president operations for Venetor Equipment Rental, a Hamilton, Ontario-based rental company, says customers use Skyjack's SJ7027 RT scissors for applications that involve rough terrain or when a larger deck space is needed for materials to be elevated. “Skyjack has designed a product that is user-friendly both from a service technician and user's standpoint,” he says. “Parts are interchangeable amongst various models and easily accessible.”

JLG Industries
JLG introduces two trailer-mounted boom lifts with large working envelopes and towing speeds of up to 65 mph. They feature self-leveling hydraulic outriggers and a removable platform control box with simplified one-handed proportional controls. Model T350 has a 35-foot platform height with 20-foot horizontal reach and Model T500J has a 50-foot platform height that includes a 3-foot, 6-inch jib boom with 130-degree vertical motion and has 31-foot horizontal reach. Both machines feature 370-degree non-continuous turntable rotation and have 500 pounds unrestricted capacity in their 30-by-48-inch aluminum platform. Other standard features on both models include surge brakes, parking brakes, an hour meter, tilt alarm and a 110V-AC receptacle in the platform.

New for the Flannegan Western sign truck is the optional FW traversing lift platform that attaches to all three of FW's optional platform lifts. The traversing lift platform's ability to move horizontally to both the right and the left sides of the truck bed allow the maintenance person to work on the median side, as well as the curb side of a road and/or one-way street. The task-oriented design of this platform adds versatility to nearly any service or sign truck.
Patrick Scanlan, highway commissioner for Oconto County, Wis., uses the FW traversing lift platform for sign repair and bulb replacement because of its flexibility. “It allows us to work on either side of the truck, which is a plus,” he says. “This gives us a little better range of motion.”
