HSS RentX last week announced the sale of its four South Carolina tool rental locations in the Columbia area to Thompson Acquisition Co. Affiliates of Thompson own two Grand Rental Stations, a portable toilet rental business and an office trailer rental business in the Columbia area.

In a separate transaction that closed in early December 2004, HSS RentX sold its three Texas tool rental operations to a group led by the company’s long time manager in the area, Michael Frazier.

“We are pleased that both sales were to local acquirers,” said Tim Campbell, vice president of business development of HSS RentX. “Both buyers knew the market, knew the customers and moved quickly after recognizing the opportunity.

“We have deals pending for several remaining regions and have serious interest in other areas,” added Campbell.

Hageman, Stansberry & Associates, based in Cameron Park, Calif., and Arlington, Texas, is representing HSS RentX in the divestiture. HSS RentX is also marketing for sale its general rental stores in Washington, Idaho, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia and Florida.
